Long awaited upgrade did not increase performance !
I finally got this beautiful tach back from North Hollywood. It looks great and works perfectly ! However no increase in top speed or acceleration were noted
And if you want a screamin deal on a really nice "stock" tach with NHS shipping box and lots of bubble wrap - it is listed in the for sale section! http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8492/8...4c45aa16_b.jpg http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8500/8...4ebab515_o.jpg |
Man, that wheel and dash looks sweet.
I would put a couple of Carrillo or Hazet stickers on the front fenders behind the wheel - down low Always good for a couple of tenths. |
Time to replace your "butt" dyno.
The steering wheel and tach are worth at least 20 butt hp - ;>) |
Looks great, racer look so lose the clock....that's what your cell is for.
|
I have been thinking about replacing the clock - what do you suggest, big oil pressure light or flat back block off plate ?
Years ago on ebay I saw someone offering some genuine "RS" clock plate - I think they wanted $125 for them. I just bought a claimed "genuine Porsche" clock block off plug. There are 100s of used clocks on Ebay. Maybe I'll make a stand and use it as a desk clock. |
Leave the clock...love the whole setup.
Almost 200k on that bad buy....nice Mike |
Leave the clock. IT's cool. Love the analog old skool look. It fits. Or get it done up chronograph style....
|
Mark,
Do you know what style wheel that is? I had planned on getting a Momo, but I think I like that one better. |
Get the pop in block off....not like you have to throw it away...try it both ways. Looks more purposeful without it.

I might be wrong but that is Momo. Don't know style Ernie 81 sc |

Looks great! If you're tired of the clock, you might look at a dual CHT gauge for that location.

Mark,
can be replaced by original clock within minutes http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1356163478.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1356163494.jpg |
Leave the clock, balences out the dash.
|
Yes, that is a 930S steering wheel.
Of course the Heuer chronograph mounted in the dash is cool - like this one from the Singer. But I think I'm going with the block off plate. http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/9663/...esign91127.jpg Anybody know where Singer got these done ? Like their interior parts, it is very cool. The "sport chrono" on the current 997 cars seems a little over the top by comparison. |
My clock keeps perfect time, that's what it's for. The cell phone is buried somewhere down in the door pocket - why would I want to grope for that just to learn the time?
|
what, you can't look at your wrist?
|
My wrist is too busy steering like mad, trying to keep the engine in the back.

Clock, no clock.....looks great either way. I like the minimalist approach to gauges. |
