SC service manual

Does anyone know of a service manual for the SC that is specific to the ROW models? I purchased a Bentley which is what I currently use. I called Bentley, but they only offer the one for theUS versions.

Warren,

A little ‘Non-USA’ navigation will help (somewhat).

Start here:
Home | Porsche
Porsche Service - Personalisation & Service | Porsche
Porsche Original Parts Catalogue - Porsche Genuine Parts | Porsche
Choose “911” and 1978-1983”. You get to the on-line pdf Porsche Parts Catalog:
http://www.porsche.com/all/media/pdf/originalparts/en/E_911_83_KATALOG.pdf
This pdf has lots of useful information. I suspect there is a ‘PET’ (Porsche ErstatTele) CD version available to purchase (~$11.00).
Porsche keeps reducing the (older) models’ listing on the on-line catalog so the CD version is very useful for our 911s.

There existed a 911 Workshop Manual (in English) for RoW 911s. It is similar to the USA version (identical for Vol. I & II) but differs in the Vol. III – VI (’72-’83).
Perhaps someone has the Porsche Part Number for these volumes.
The Workshop Manuals have an original publication and then a series of (Roman-Numeral designated) Supplements. When buying a manual you must make sure you are getting the latest Supplements. The Supplements for Vol III–VI continued into 1984 and possibly ’85 and later.
While expensive, the Factory manuals are almost an indispensable addition to the trade manuals (Bentley and the like).

For the USA Models, there are a series of “Porsche 911SC Service-Information” for each model and year.
(For example: for 911SC Model 1980, it is publication number 4591.21. In the current part numbering system, this would translate to WKD.459.121.00 or possibly PNA.459.121.00.)
I have never seen a RoW version of these booklets but I assume they were published.

There are also the series of ‘Spec Books’ for various models & years.
For the 911SC USA, they are:
Porsche Technical Specifications 911SC; Turbo 3.3; 78, 79, 80, 81 Models”, WKD 422 720.
and
Porsche Technical Specifications 911SC; 911 Turbo; 82, 83 Models”, WKD 423 120.
While these are for the USA versions, I have seen RoW versions.

Porsche has gone to an on-line subscription Service Manual:
https://techinfo2.porsche.com/PAGInfosystem/VFModuleManager?Type=GVOStart
This PIWIZ (Porsche Integrated Workshop Information System) is a VERY expensive subscription, priced where even many large independent Porsche workshops can’t afford it (PCNA Dealers are required to pay for it).
It is impractical for an owner as currently priced.
This service should be freely available to owners of older (out of warranty) 911s. Let’s make this happen. Write PCNA and your Member of Congress (as if they don’t already have something to do).

The Pelican archives are your current best resource. :)

Best,
Grady

Thanks for the info. Once again I am amazed at this site for the amount of info at our fingertips and the willingness of everyone to share what they know to us newer car owners.

In my opinion, there's not enough difference between the US and ROW cars to require a ROW version of the factory manuals. Just get as much factory documentation as you can find and sell the Bentley.

I didn't try the link but this may be part of what you are looking for:

While this appears to be a illegal copy, this shows there exists a UK (RoW?) PET CD.
Can some of our Britt Pelicans inquire at your local Porsche Dealer?

Best,
Grady
