CV Boots
So I purchased new cv boots from our host. There are two types available:
CV Boot w/ flange, 911 non turbo only (mid 1975-84, 1985 with 915.68 Trans) Brand: Empi COST - $12 and CV Boot w/ flange, 911 non turbo only (mid 1975-84, 1985 with 915.68 Trans) Brand: GKN/Loebro COST - $31 I went the cheap route and now may have buyers remorse. As you can see in the photos my original boots have a "rabbit ear" around the bolt heads and are made of a solid metal. Also to note: they did not have the moon plates or any washers and were tighter than snot, so I'm installing as removed. The EMPI's that I bought appear to be of much cheaper quality with almost a "pop" metal cap over a harder metal and are missing the larger rabbit ear shape for better compressibility. Am I over thinking this? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Don't think you'll have a problem with them. They look like the ones i put on (no plates or washers) and they have been fine for 2 yrs. now.
Just out of curiosity did your old ones have the recces for the gaskets?

I am using those Empi boots. They work fine... i have something like 50,000 miles on them.
I did choose to use nordlock washers, though. Cheaper than stage 8s and easier to find than moon plates. 5/16"/M8 Delta Protekt Nord-Lock Bolt Securing Washer/Pair | Fastenal
