Unhappy diodes and caps

Hi everyone, well I got something wrong on assembly of my bosch 3 pin cdi.I thought non-electrolitic film caps.were non-polar so the orientation on install didn't matter.Apparently it must because now I have a cracked cap.(.01F)Can someone please post a pic showing the correct orientation for the diodes and caps.Thank You.T.C.

I share your belief that most capacitors not of the can housing style are non-polar. In any event, polarized electronic parts normally have some marking on them to show which lead is which. Always a + and - (or one of them, perhaps the + is the standard, as it is on circuit diagrams and printed boards) on the electrolytic cans. Diodes have that circumferential bar.
Tantalum capacitors are polar, but have the positive side marked. They do not come in a can, so I guess they could be mistaken for the disk style, though they are not a disk.

The older, and very common, disk style capacitors are pretty obvious. A lollypop appearance, and on the bag of 0.01s that I hauled out, have one wire obviously going to one side of the disk, and one to the other. And with nothing to suggest polarity.

Can you attach a picture of yours?

Post picture when ready.

Someone who is familiar with the CD circuitry (like T77911S perhaps) might even have specific knowledge to help you.

I pulled apart a 3 pin box which had quit on a guy over 20 years ago. Thought I could find what ailed it. But couldn't - I had, for instance, no idea of how to check an SCR, which seems to be one of the key components. I still have it.
