Stratton Ducktail + D-Zug X-Factory Renn Grille (PICS)

Not all Ducks are alike. I had a fiberglass Ducktail that I had installed on my car. The fit was terrible and the glass was wavy. No matter what I did to adjust it, the damn thing would not fit right. The latch holes were off, the grille holes were slightly off, etc.

I decided to get a Stratton Ducktail. There is no comparison with other glass ducks. The Stratton tail and decklid fit perfectly with no adjustments needed. And there are no waves in the glass finish. There is the right way to do things and there is the cheapo way. Buy crap tools from Harbor Freight 'cause they're cheap and they will last a few times then they will break. The Stratton Ducktail is the right way to do things.

I also slapped on the D-Zug X-Factory Renn Grille to complete my tail. The install was a snap and the fit is perfect (and fully adjustable). I really like the look! This unit is well-executed and really adds a nice subtle yet aggressive aesthetic to my car.

I highly recommend both!!

Thanks for the great photos...really shows what you are taking about.

Hot damn!! Love it! One question, where did you source the clear front turn signals?

Your car looks so awesome, is it an M491 or did you add the fender flairs yourself?

not all glass ducks are the same, and it sounds like you got a bad one. my m.a. shaw duck fit practically perfect right out of the box, no waves either.

glad you are happy but that grille is not my cup of tea.

The back line is dead on. It's a late afternoon shadow that makes it look slightly off There really was no way to edit the contrasty shadow from the passenger side edges of the lid.

The two Ducks I had before were off, way off. Both had waves after some time being exposed to the elements. One worse than the other. And one started to crack at the top center grille hole. And both had problems with mounting the factory grille flush. I had to fabricate a long bolt to attach one grille hole. Poor quality and lots of work and money thrown into the wind on the others, just to make them sorta fit.

Koizumi, your car is off the hook. I've got the SC body version, but love the wider fenders for sure.

Question for you; where did you source the clear front turn signals/running lights?

Thanks, Craig_D

sounds like neither of those fg ducks were baked prior to painting. glass will give off fumes long after it has "cured" solid and they need to be baked prior to paint or it will look as you described after some time. sorry you had bad luck with them but at least you are happy now.

I got them off of the 'Bay last year. Nice subtle difference over the orange. Try 'em out, they're inexpensive and the mod is obviously reversible.

Thanks Koizumi, apparently TRE has them as well. They look a lot nicer/cleaner than the orange ones.

Oh and here's a pic of my skinny version of your car, with a MA Shaw duck tail.

I like your choice of car color, wheels and tail obviously.

Dave,
Thanks for posting the excellent install info and pro pics of your car (which is as nice as it gets). The grille really works nicely on that combo. In my humble opinion......very tasty.

regards,
al
