Coil 79 911sc
Car runs great, 79 911sc, except during startup. I can hear electrical snapping during startup but none after that. I once observed it at the coil. Do I need to replace it or is there a way to stop it. I have replaced wires. Am I seeing electrical traces on the coil (see picture)?
If I need a new one, where do I find one and what model. Host is out of stock. thanks. ![]() Last edited by gold911; 06-12-2025 at 01:18 PM.. |

Just recently I swapped mine for an MSD Blaster High Vibration coil. In my case it was because I had the known to be problematic silver Bosch and it was a preemptive measure.
Make sure you get the High Vibration coil, should be available at a regular auto parts store for around $100. It’s slightly longer than the stock coil so mount it slightly more toward the distributor |

MSD coil 8222 is the high vibration one that works with an SC.
