1971 911 T or not?
Hi,
Can anyone confirm what the following vehicle is? It's been registered in Spain since 1996 and the registration document suggests there was a previous registration document. No other information is available, at the moment. The registration document shows that it is: 911 - T Vin #: 9111112433 Engine #: 6394045 (document shows this as engine type and has "G-" before the number G-6394045). 6 cylinder / 2956cc. Original registration: 30/04/1971 Thanks in advance. Pete |

The Vin is for a 911T the firts three indicate 911 the fourth 1971 and the fifth "1" a T and the sixth"1" a Targa
My source shows that you have an S engine out of a US modell T 6 = 6 Cylinder 3=911 S 9=69 Model 4=71 US T 045= Engine serial number |

Yes, this VIN is for a '71 T Targa, but the engine serial number must not be correct.
It is not a correct serial number for a '69 'S' engine. Those are numbered 6390001-6392126. The '4' in the forth spot is not for a 'T' and is way outside the range for the 2.0L 'S' engines. If you can inspect the engine yourself look for the type number stamped on the case near the serial number. It will be 901/XX or 911/XX. Also confirm the correct serial number. Edit: I missed the fact you said it was a 3.0L engine in your post. It could be a '79 3.0L SC engine. So check the type number for 930/XX. The case will be Al not Mg.
