Question Upshift light

My '86 upshift light only lights in 5th gear. What gives?
Any direction to resolving this is greatly appreciated.
Thanks Pelican's

It's basically worthless. I had a voltmeter installed in that area of the tach and now I get information that is important.

The upshift light receives a signal from the DME, but not in fifth gear.

No big deal as most of us just ignore it.

The black wire on the back of the tach is the control circuit.

Disconnect the wire=Bye Bye upshift light.....

Do a search "Upshift Light" for more info.

Good luck,

Gerry

The up-shift light is a lot like the oil level gauge. It's there however, you only put so much trust in it.

Thanks everyone for the comments.
I will follow Gerry's note and disconnect black wire.
