Dropped the top, put my golf bag in the back seat, hit 18 holes with a buddy, had a beer, and took the long way home along the beach.
|
Drove to dinner in Chatt last nite for my niece's birthday , unfortunately on the interstate. Gave mine a bath and rewired the horn switch inside the MOMO.
|
Drove the crap out of it. Gotta love 65* weather in January!
|
Removed rear spring plates and removed worn rubber bushings to install Rebel Racing spring plate bushings.

Mid-winter thaw - to the garage!
It's actually above freezing here, so out to the garage to sit in the seat and make engine noises. Installed a Seine Systems Ultimate strut, so now the frunk hood doesn't come crashing down on my head when it's cold out...

What I did to my 911?
What did I do to my 911 today? Well, I put the cover on it. There's salt on the road here now, so I won't be out again until there's no threat of more salt and there's been a downpour to was residual salt off the road. Unfortunately, I never resolved my problem where I get popping at 3000 rpm, so I'll spend the winter dreaming of and EFI conversion and reading every thread I can find on the subject.

Sorted shipping of some turbo headers to my door. And so it begins..
|
Today I removed my sunroof to fix the headliner from hitting my head!

I replaced the oil line that the previous owner spliced together and puked several quarts of oil over my garage last week when I started the engine. Glad it happened when I was at home, but it would have been better if it didn't happen in the first place. grrr.

When you own a basket case like mine, it's more of what have you not done today?
|
Got sideways at every corner. Accellerated as fast as possible in every gear. Held on to each turn with precision, keeping in mind the cold, damp roads. Down shifted with purpose. Honked when needed. Parked it dirty, wet and a bit salty. Living the dream opposite a trailer queen!
Now get out and drive your damned Porsche! Live! |

Love this post, especially with the pictures. I put my car on my lift, did a partial engine drop (had to as it had a non-standard nut on top). I dropped it about 4 inches and took out my old starter and installed my new one. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/664950-1976-911s-garage-find-road-12.html#post7206325 While it is in now, I will have to pull it out again as I have to clock the starter around so it doesn't block the heater duct. Still, once I did the engine drop, the rest was pretty easy. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1358119782.jpg |
Pulled my muffler and stripped the paint. Going to put a rust/zinc treatment on and repaint. Got new Zinc plated hardware and will bolt it back together in a few days.
|
Installed my new "no puff" repro sunvisors from Austria.

May be sold out of Targa, I'd contact them to find out. They are exact repo's and very good quality. (No weird creases as pictures show, must be bad pictures) 4 screws to remove and replace, done. Coupe: Targa: |
Removed some rust and rattle can painted some tin, re-installed torsion bars, waiting for paint to dry to reassemble more stuff.
Made yet another shopping list for Pelican parts...:D |
Clay, hand glaze, and paint sealant. Original guards w/170k miles... Still hanging in there.

90-minute drive and got home just after sunset. I really do hate to put it back in the garage.
