This guy does not deserve to own a Porsche!

I'm not normally one to hang **** on anyone, but this guy made me cry!

So sad

Well, to his credit, he does say :

"WARNING! If you are a dedicated Porsche fan, the story that unfolds in the following pages may be deeply disturbing. In fact, in Stuttgart, I would probably be up on charges of desecration. But this is America where any nut can pursue his warped dream with carefree abandon"

Once again, a story of someone with too much time and money on their hands.

What disturbs me is now there's one less early 911 available for someone who really wants one.

I always thought that if you are going to do a conversion that there should be at least an up side....I don't get this one.

Some people will do anything to get rid of those pesky oil leaks....

If they had a powerful, efficient electric motor system, I'd have one in my car no problem. I have no particular love for internal combustion engines that are as expensive to fix and work on as ours are. Putting a Chevy is out because it's the wrong ICE, but a total swap out down the road would make sense as gas prices rise and as Arab nations continue to make us reach around and stick our tongues into our own Aholes for oil.

But the technology simply isn't there just yet. 9 miles with no hills? Please. I mean...how lame can you be.
Runs like a vw on 3 cylinders? Oh my god...no thanks

"Hertz"? I just scanned through the pictures. I wonder if that's his "current" configuration? He must get quite a "charge" out of driving an electric Porsche! "Watt" a disgrace to do such a thing to a P-car!

Seriously, I do think that while I would have chosen a less significant vehicle to modify, he did do a very nice job with the conversion.

Okay, I've long had a secret research project under way which I haven't revealed because it would seem TOO CRAZY to the sensible and intelligent members of this board. However, when compared to THIS guy's project, mine no longer seemes so nutty. So here it is...

A few months ago, there was a long thread on this board regarding a CIS to EFI conversion. And I soon realized that our California Bothers could not participate because of the visual inspections mandated by their state. So basically, they could not replace their CIS systems EVEN IF THE EFI SYSTEM WAS CLEANER. So I started a super-secret project to replace the CIS system with an EFI system that LOOKED JUST LIKE the old CIS system. To this end, I figured one could easily replace the old mechanical, air flow meter with a MAF since it is already hidden inside the air box. Running the wires is no problem because the CIS already has a brain box under the passenger seat. So the big trick was hiding the actual fuel injectors. But then I figured one could leave the old CIS injectors in place and instead replace the mechanical valve inside the fuel distributor with one (or six) pulsed injectors - sort of hybrid between throttle body injection and the old CIS. So I bought a used fuel distributor for "medical experiments" but got sidetracked when my tranny blew.

Crazy? Sure, why not? But the dumb policies of "California Uber Alles" force us to the seek extreme measures. And next to the electric Porsche guy, I think I look pretty darned sane.

Anybody wanna bite? Opinions? Referrals to psychiatric professionals?

Hmm...interesting idea...if i was in his place (and had that much time & money), i would take out half of those batteries and install fuel-cell instead. Fuel cell would provide majority of power and batteries would be used as backup if all power was needed. More powerfull motors wouldn hurt either :-)

Hmm...imagine that thread..."Help me tune my electric Porsche!"

I've seen this before - very disturbing....

Hey John (Fishcop) - once while I was visiting family in Sydney I saw an SC parked by the house down the street. I am reliably informed it is electric powered.... (it was plugged in, had something about zero emissions on it, and my uncle told me so).

Of course, this isn't so sad - losing an SC is not as painful as a T
