Thanks, good recommendations, I have not started looking yet...

I have a set of virgin C2 hinges if someone needs them for their conversion.

pulling my hair out
i have hit a road block in the install of my 964 deck lid and was hoping for some insight. i have wired the thing up with an autoloc box and a 911 window switch and have encountered a problem. deck goes up fine but i cant get it to go back down unless i disconnect and reconnect the loom ive put at the back of the lid.
i have used a wiring harness deal for a trailer lighting connection so i can break it apart easy when going back and forth between decks. i have checked the wiring and rechecked it to see that it is consistant with the diagram contained earlier in this thread. so i hit the button up, deck wing goes up. when i hit the down side of the button nothing. but, if i go to the back of the car and disconnect and reconnect the 4 wire trailer connector the lid goes down. it goes down with the switch in the central "off" position. get the wing up, no go down, until i go and disconnect and reconnect the trailer wiring loom. any help in determing my problem? again i have gone over the wiring ive done at least 4 times and it is as shown in the diagram in this thread. jordi shows a 964 window switch part number but in speaking with my wrench and looking at widebody911's site the 911 and 964 window switches are the same except for the type of terminals the wires land on. |
I am in the process of the same mod. I have just gotten the lid repainted and am waiting on the autoloc and switch.
Thom, how much for the hinges? I have an extra set of pre C2 hinges I was going to modify but I might want to go that route. Also, what I was planning to do for wiring is use the wire in place for the now removed rear wiper. Just change the switch on the dash. I have not tested the wire yet but I think that should work. |
Are you guys saying that stock 964 hinges just bolt up? I thought neither hinge would work without modification.

VIOLA! after talking with autoloc tech support i was shown the light. it seems, on my install (your results may vary) that the tail up green/black and tail down green/red should not be tied into the autoloc unit at all, specifically to the autoloc white/blue & grey. they had me disconnect them and the tail went up and down as advertised. seems the autoloc unit has its own load sensors that kill power to the tail motor when it reaches the final up/down position.
i would be curious as to others that have in fact gotten the wing up and down with the "tail up green black" & "tail down green/red" connected as shown? i again i was able to get the wing up wired per the pelican diagram earlier in this thread, but not down. electricity continues to dumbfound me. |
