C2 decklid, questions

Well I got all the parts (decklid, hinges, Autoloc and soon the switch). Two questions:

- Does anybody has the description of the connector attached to the tail (the round one.. which terminals are the sensors and which the motor)

- Does anybody offers a 'hinge modification service'? I don't have the tools or skill to weld anything

Thanks and regards.. have a great weekend

Hope this link helps for the wiring. You may want to write to Jack Olsen about the hinges. I think his '73 911 has a C2 lid.

Jordi,
I think Thom built a jig to make the hinges work. Send him an email.

When is the motor drop?

Mark, the "Dallas Beer, BBQ and Engine Drop at Jordi's" will happen as soon as I find a new job (I was 'reduced-in-force' yesterday). I have been in contact with Thom..

Rich, thanks for the info.

The one-touch unit is the best way to go. You flick the switch, and the lid goes up, flip it again, and it goes down. No more holding the switch and counting to ten.

Here's a link with the more up-to-date information and diagram.

And a picture, too.

Thanks Jack, I have the AutoLoc module and waiting for Wayne to ship to the switch.. but my problem remains on the description of the 10 pole connector, I think I got it by measuring continuity with a tester.. I don't have (and I have been unable to find) any electrical diagrams for a 1990 C2.. so unless I obtain some confirmation of my findings (see post above) I will have to go with what I have.. I do plan to install the up-down switch in a center console (pending arrival too)..

By the way in one of your previous posts regarding this subject you said/implied that the way to modify the hinges is to cut the arm at the plate and weld the arm at the end of the plate (there is some pictures to that effect), is that correct??

Thanks again and have a great weekend.

First off, Sorry Jordi for not getting back to you sooner - I've been swamped with getting the car painted and assembled for the DE and TT last Tuesday, and now I've been recruited to do last-minute home improvement stuff for a friend who's selling her house.

I have a jig to get the spacing right for the new hinges, but it's not a complete setup as I didn't build-in any way to locate the early hood pins. I'm going to have mine apart later in the week to put the GT2 tail back on for Sunday - I need every bit of help I can get when I face Jack out on the track again. I'll try and do the measurements when I have it apart to complete the jig.

Thom, Thom, you really should spend the time with your lady friend. I'm sure the 964 tail will be just fine for the Tracquest event.

Jordi, Here's the link with the hinge pictures. (Note: not my welding.)

Exclamation

OK, got the switch from Wayne but my first (second, third, etc.) tries have failed... the problem is that (looks like) I cannot detect the tail up/down signal and keep trying to raise (or retract) the tail..

Inside the 10 pole connector from the tail I have 3 cables green/black (tail down switch), green/red (tail up switch) and brown (switch common/ground) plus blue and yelow/green from the motor.

The only way to retrack the tail is to reverse the blue and yellow/green cables going to the AutoLock.

I have followed the Tyson/Thom/Jack diagrams to install the AutoLock.

Please what I'm missing!!! could anybody please take a look at his/her installation and let me know what I'm doing wrong!!

Thanks in advance.

Updated diagram

As promised, I have updated Tyson's diagram with the colors of the cables from the tail wiring loom, the number/colors and Porsche PN for the switch.

Hope this will help the next person doing this update.. Regards

No problem H.D., glad to be able to help.

Does any of you know a easy/good way to pass cables from the instrument panel to the engine compartment?? I need to wire the switch and electronics to the tail?? I'm trying to avoid drilling any new holes..

Thanks in advance.

Jordi,
I ran a wire through the drivers side door mounting plate, then behind the rear side panel, and through the rear deck along side the rear window defroster wires...no new holes.

Just my .02 worth.
