911s 2.7 engine
Is there a difference between the 1976 911s 2.7 and a 1977 911s 2.7? I'm under the impression that one is 165hp and the other 175hp. Also, is one a long block and the other a short block

The '74 model was the only 175 hp USA 2.7 engine ...
The non-equal-length heat exchangers cost 10 hp in '75, and the Cali heat-reactor engine lost another 5 hp in '76. Long and 'short' blocks refer to the completeness of V-8 engines ... short blocks don't have heads on them! No real relationship to 911 engines!

A longblock refers to a engine with cylinder heads attached and a shortblock is a engine without cylinder heads attatched. In the V-8 world buy a performance shortblock and install the aftermarket cylinder heads of your choice.
