Chrome Passenger Side Mirror Inatall

I fear I know the answer to this one but I will put it to the brain trust

When installing a side view mirror on the passenger side, do you need to remove the door handle, panel and all the associated parts in order to access the screws.

Thanks.

on a cayenne, cayman, carrera, cobra, caprice?
if your installing where no mirror was installed, removing the door card will do. make sure you position the mirror so you can see it, use a buddy to help.

good rule of thumb is only remove what is necessary to perform the job

Sorry forgot to mention 1975 911S

It did not deliver from the factory with the passenger side mirror. Previous owner had installed UGLY cheap Autozone type plastic mirrors.

And initially installed it in the wrong position. Earlier this week TRECup showed me the correct position closer to the vent window.

Unfortunately I have an extra pair of holes in the door where the improperly mirror was mounted.

It looks like I need to remove the door panel and associated hardware.

Sorry to bring up an old thread. Debating doing this myself or to take to a body shop. I assume you drill into the door for the chrome rectangular side mirror. Do you guys uusally put anything around the holes to make sure it doesnt rust?

is there a template online ?

yes .. model paint will work in a pinch you want to keep bare metal to a minimum ...

dont do it

we put one on,, it was placed in the spot where it is indented for a mirror. Be aware this is the location for the mirror for a right hand drive car.

So our mirror is useless (we cannot see it when driving) and I will be removing it and patching the holes.

It has to be placed towards the rear of the car more to be useable, but that would not look right to me.
another solution would be an extension to the mirror but.......

They're different heights, too. Here are a couple pics of Jack's BB2 that show the front to rear differences and height.

And the back to show different heights
