My new pencil holder

I took an old piston and cylinder, cut off the piston at the bottom ring groove, epoxyed the piston top in and glued on a felt base. It's kind of silly, but I sure had fun doing it.

How do you keep the pencils from falling out?

Regardless of picture orientation, I think it's a neat idea. I have an old grooved up cylinder that I can now put to good use. And from a fellow North Carolinian at that. Thanks.

You must live in Oz. Next time try holding the camera upside down.

Great idea cause it would piss off my wife if I brought it in the house.

The pics show up fine on my iPad. I am still trying to understand what is up with Apple stuff. It seems like 75% of my pics from my iPad end up upside-down, but show up fine for me.

Cool idea BTW

I have a cylinder that I use like for pencils, pens, etc. I didn't think of putting a piston in it, I like how you did it.

I got lucky in the wife department. She is pretty tolerant of just about anything I do.

Nice when you can turn junk into something cool. I'm going to give it a try.

cool i like how you added a bottom. I made one from a 914 cyl buts got no bottom. i painted it gloss black and stuck a beat up porsche badge on the flat part. it really finishes it off

Ok, I flipped them so now they are upside down on my ipad. Hopefully they are right side up for everyone else. I'm sure it's just Apple's way of messing with everyone else.

I will say that cutting through that piston with a hacksaw was a bear.

Interesting,
On my iPad pics 1,2,3&4 are the right way up.
Pics 5,6,7&8 are upside down!
Cheers

I'm also using a piston inside a cylinder, but I never glued the piston in place.
Pick up the cylinder, and then there is a pile of pens and pencils scattered around the piston.

You must be smarter than I. But then, mine is a high-performance holder-
Yours is a 90mm cylinder. I've got a 95mm!

Very cool. I've got the same thing but with an outer pully half from the fan glued in the bottom.
Like the addition of the felt.

Thats a cool idea. Can't use it for one thing then make it work for something else. I like it.
