to paint or not to paint ?

...that is the question ??
I have cup 1 wheels , silver, was toying with the idea of painting them gloss black leaving the outer ring silver. or just paint the outer ring red and leave the rest silver ?
I know this has been done , and written about in the past.
Any suggestions ?
Any pictures with this done so i could see what the end product looks like ?
Any regrets ?

thanks for your feedback .

I think the whole black wheel thing is way over. I like the silver wheels on your car.

I know I'll get flamed for this but (just my opinion) I hate the black wheel look, it's overdone. Now everything from Audis to Hyundais have gone to the look. I think we'll look back at this period the same way people look back to all the BBS mesh wheels of the eighties.

Period Fuchs with black centers look okay, though...

Once you go black you can never go back, unless you plastidip them which I didn't 12 years ago. I'm thinking of painting the centers of mine blue.

+2 on the black wheel thing as stated above. Don't care for it on a P-car. Dark grey centers with silver or polished rims is fine however. You can probably do that yourself, without dismounting the tires.

I think your car looks great as is. Of course, I'm a purist and don't really like after market things put on my car. To me (and this is just my preference) painted black wheels on an older car make the car look like and older car trying to look newer. I think the classic look is the best look.

I think black would look good.
Maybe you can try it like them, just to see it in reality...

Plasti-Dip your wheels?

I would leave it silver as it is..the car just needs to 'sit' right.
Some cars has it, some don't.

As others have stated, the all black look doesn't look quite right. You might be able to get away with the outer ring in silver. Get some aerosol Plasti-dip and give it a try before committing to paint. A can is only about $6.

Leave them with the (quality) factory silver finish . If you want black, trade'm for 7" & 8" Fuchs . I've seen alot of "spray baum" applications gone horrible after peeling, flaking & just simply chipping away from normal driving (heat cycles from braking, brake dust & obvious road debris inherit from wheels spinning all the time wearing away the spoke edges), looks.... awful.

I don't like color ring, but black spokes/center looks good.

Personally I think Porsches look best when they look original, but it is your car so paint them black if that is what you think looks best.

it has been said before ... its your car do what you like with it ...

those wheels .. just so you know .. are not stock for that car any way .. after market italian cups ...

but it is just a bolt on part .. goin back to stock not difficult ....

also most of the cars on this board came with metric tires ...

I know my car handles better than it did when it came from the factory .....

Plus stock is boring ........
