I'll have that much in just repainting a non-rusty 914-6, with all of the usual little while-you-are-there stuff, and I did the disassembly and will be doing most of the reassembly, too. $20k doesn't go very far.

JR

That's most likely what is going to happen JR, while I don't mind taking a substantial loss I have no intention of breaking it up (unless I had buyers for everything at once!) or giving her away. Everyone's input is appreciated either way!

It hard enough selling a running and successful race car today for 33 cents on the dollar, much less an uncompleted project. If you wanted the most money out of it, parting it out would be the best way to go.

Understand completely Scott, tried selling my $50K+ invested, winning race car for $30K and didn't!

Why post this...?? Now I will not be able to sleep!

I know a thing or two about unfinished projects... just look at my signature...

Well usually 30 cents on the dollar as-is, 50-60 parted, 80 as a complete unless you did REALLY good worked coupled with great prices when you bought the stuff.

Just my experience.

one million dollars

I would buy it in a heart beat if I didn't have one already. It's soooo much closer and cooler than mine.

Having done the part it out route, as well as sell it cheap route, both are painful. Unless you need the money or are out of space, I would just sit on it. Often I question the two previous race cars I sold as the money I got for them ended up being fairly inconsequential to what I wrapped up in the next one and I would have had a working race car while building the next one.

If I had had the space to keep it, I would be really kicking myself now for selling my 993 for what I did.

That could happen! I'll most likely start doing some work on her soon either way, plenty of things to do without spending anything and all this talk is getting me wound up! :D

Keep it, get it running... even if you run it with the body in primer... don't sell it man, don't do it...

LOL!

The paint is nothing, lots of $$ needed to get it driveable so that isn't happening. I can get it running and suspension/brakes done with what I have and a few bucks in fuel lines, vacuum lines, misc. though.

i am in the same positon...have an RSR project and have tried to sell with little success...so have just been gradually putting some time into it and will do my best to get it on the road...doesnt have to be perfect...just driveable...thats enough for me...
..keeps me busy and out of trouble...

As is in the hands of an individual, the vultures will circle.

Partner with a restoration shop to sell it and it becomes a legitimate product.

I always thought there should be a market for " bodies in white"

For non do it yourselfers your "product" has greater value in accelerating the results. ( having a newly completed built to spec RSR replica in half the usual time).

Thank you all for your input, I have placed it on the FS forum so everything is in one place as I had discussions going in a few different forums.
