Question Help with vin# it's weird or I am.

I got my fathers '80 sc over to my house this weekend(that thing is a ball, the motor is built for low end grunt) and started going over it a little. I have only ever owned my 930 so I am not sure how SC vins are supposed to read but this one looks a lttle odd to me. It is 91A blah blah than there is an asterik(*) after the vin. Is this normal? I know it is grey maket but thats about it. Thanks guys. Also there is more interesting stuff on this one I'll post later.

Nah ... that was the scheme in '80 ... 91 meant SC, 93 for Turbo, and 'A' meant model year 1980.

The 'odd thing' is how many times they have changed the VIN sheme since 1979!
