Looks very nice! What are your plans for a "proper engine"?

Cool, nice if you can get hold of original parts. Don't see much 3.0l MFI stuff for sale.

Looks like a very impressive project, I am sure i am in the minority but I am sort of sad to see the original color and interior go. I'm not sure why, maybe I am wired to like quirky things from the 70s and 80s, but I love the funky interior patterns Porsche used back in the day. Even in the 90s I remember some crazy factory plaid seats, ahh well modern tastes dictate things to be much cleaner in design.

My english is not good and so it is difficoult to explain anyway:

the engine crankcase is ok the original

new set of pistons and cylinders

fortunately the cylinders's heads are quite similar to the original 74 rs

MFI (used... come from a 2,4 car ... I'm not sure)

triple trottle bodies (modified size as the 74 gr.4 spec)

3.0 rsr camshaft ... not too difficoult to find (rep., but if good enought who cares!)

unfortunately the gearbox is not in magnesium... :-( but it will be modified (shorter gear ratio...)

I do not know everithing we are going to do because my mechanic menage that stuff... I will let you know...I will post pictures ...

Certainly good enough! Should be a great engine. Please post more pics as the work progresses.

It can sounds a bit optimistic consider our future engine a copy of the 74 rs one... we are going to do what it is possible according to our budget constraint... fortunately my mechanic has a lot of experience in porsche race cars

I have heard the 3.0RS engine is quite difficult (i.e. expensive) to recreate if you wish to make it an exact replica of the original. I was dreaming of putting MFI on my 3.0SC engine one day but after reading what would be involved it is not worth the effort. It is a pity since the sound of MFI is just great. Did you start with an SC or a Carrera 3.0?

Did you see this very nice 3.0RS clone:
My Tribute to the 1974 3.0RS

I think the 3.0RS is one of the best looking 911's ever.

this car is fantastic... I've already seen that discussion

we are starting fron the 3.0 sc engine... the original engine of the car

In europe the rs 3.0 is one of the most used car in historical rallyes... people are used to modify sc to rs engines...

no one probably get with an exact replica, but all the engine are fia approved because they are build respecting the porsche rs fia certificate...

look at this

YouTube - Mille Miglia storico 2009, ps 6

the white and blue porsche at 1:30 was built by my mechanic

all the porsche that you see are replicas ... most of them are based on 2,7 and sc

moreover we decide to build an rs 3.0 replica because, beeing a very competitive car in historic races, mechanics are used to deal with that car...

for example the same is not true for the 2,5-2,3 st.. that probably is better looking than the rs 3.0

So the engine is SC case, pistons and cylinders. Early SC big valve heads and RSR cams. MFI from a 2.4T? Please post pics when you have them.
