Does anyone use a Colgan bra?

I bought one, custom from Colgan. Installed it on my car and I can't get the trunk lid to close. I've adjusted the height of the hood latch as far as it will go and either I can close/latch it with the trunk part or the bottom part on...but as soon as I put both pieces on, no dice. I have an RMA from the company to send it back for full refund...but before I do that, has anyone ever gotten this to work?? I searched the forum and it sounds like this is a common issue - the thing's great, but it's just too thick.

I need *something* and these Colgan bra's look like they'd do the trick. It's just kind of discouraging. Here in AZ if you get out on the highway there's so much gravel it's all to easy to get the hood chipped up. ask my how I know

Anyhow ... any tricks you guys have found to work??

Thanks, guys!
Mark.

I always used the one piece Colgan bras, which work fine. I had a few of them for sale in the classifieds a while back and I think I still have a couple of them.

Can you PM me more information? Or actually...if you're willing, just send me an email that would be even better. mark (d0t) malin ( at) gmail (d0t) c0m

If I can find a good alternate solution I'll just send the one I have back. Unfortunately my bumper will continue to get chipped up, but that I can use my Dr Colorchip roadrash kit on...

I have the two piece bra and I am able to get it shut without much adjustment. I'll take a pic of the lid height (without the bra in) and see if it compares with what you are seeing.

Edit: Camera out of gas. Charging now. Hood is maybe 3/16 higher at the fender than flush but will still get a pic asap.

Same as Bob Kontak. I adjusted my hood latch slightly so it is elevated above the fenders by about 1/8-inch. Hve to push down on the hood fairly hard, but closes. It is easier on warmer days.

I also had the one-piece bra, but prefer the two-piece one aesthetically.

I'm tempted to try clear plasti-dip.

Thanks - Just whenever you have a chance it would help.
I wonder if part of my problem is that I installed a new trunk seal about a year ago? I was having water leaking into the trunk -- the new seal fixed that, but it's stiffer because it's newer.

So you had no troubles? hm....

I thought about going with a clear/transparent sticker type deal, but I have touched up chips on the hood now and I think the clear stuff might make these look really obvious because they are painted, but sunken, if you know what I mean.

Been using a Colgan 3-piece for many years, no problem, although I adjust the latch up and down depending on whether or not I'm using the bra. When the bra is on, I've got to push down pretty hard on the hood to make it latch and look good.

Ah ha - Maybe we have found part of the problem. That is 1/8 to 3/16th max.

Add a washer or spacer under the upper mount. Adjust receiver ( lower mount) and should work.

Well, gents. I put a couple washers under the hood latch part and it was enough of a spacer to get it to latch So I'm good to go. Thanks for all the help!!

Mark.
