Molex Connectors

Just bought a Blaupunkt Ventura from e-bay. Good news is, it was $15, bad news it didn't come with a wiring harness.

So I did a search on this forum and found a good post from 05 detailing what each of the 15 pins on the harness do. Also a reference to "Molex connectors".

So the question is, given there seem to be many different type of Molex connectors, has anyone else done this job in the past and if so what type of Molex connector did you use?

When I was doing this, I would use Molex Minifit Jr power connectors, male and female and cut the wires from the car and fit them into the connectors.

You might contact some of the online Blaupunkt service centers to see if they have the proper connector for that radio. It might save you a lot of time and hassle.

Molex is a manufacturer so people in different industries tend to call certain connectors "Molex connectors" as if that described something.

In computers this is what is generally refered to as a Molex connector:

Longshot, but old Sony ISO 15-pin connector might be right size; check here:

Sony 15 pin old type iso, JTaudio

Good Luck

I also have the Blaupunkt Monterey CDM83 which is the same as the Ventura without the harness and there was a response to my post about what each pin does. I posted about trying the Molex connectors but none fit well. ATX power connectors (like on a PC motherboard are actually Molex Minifit Jr) seem to fit OK, but are kind of loose. I cut up a spare ATX connector and thought I could rig a harness up, but I don't like the fit - it's just too loose, and it looks Mickey Mouse.

I have searched high and low, and there are NO replacement wiring harnesses available. Sent an email to Blaupunkt Tech Support and got a reply basically saying the Monterey is too old and I'm on my own. I've sent emails to harness making companies, junkyards and got no response or an email saying they have nothing. Scosche, Metra and all the aftermarket companies, including Crutchfield could not help. I thought about buying a replacement unit just to get the harness, but I just could not justify the cost.

That Sony harness on the previous post is about as close as I've seen, but you will have to get exact dimensions to the pins, and then there is no guarentee it will fit the pins or the plug at the radio.

You'll also need the installation cage or sleeve. These are available at some dismantling companies or there is a shop in England that sells them new. (I think it's the same place where the Sony harness was linked to.)

To boot, I cannot find a connector to fit my 911SC 4-pin power connector. I don't want to cut the factory wiring, and no one seems to make one to fit the SC.

If you find anything, please post, but I have resigned myself to buying a newer Alpine. It comes with a sleeve, harness, and has USB and Aux In for $100, and they don't look too blingy. (I'm still trying to find a 4-pin power lead though.)

Good luck.

Last I heard SW Stereo could supply custom harnesses for Becker and Blaupunkt. You might try giving them a call.

Do you have the details on the 15 pins and what each one is used for?
Or where to find the post you referenced from 05?

is this it?

Becker traffic pro, also used in many other applications. Normally this connector is 1-pc however I cut it apart when I was working on something else.

Just ID the pin outs and pick an appropriate Molex connector to get the job done. (unless you're looking for an exact factory-styled connector).

BEST!
