Bent valves

I think I installed my right side cam out 180 deg. Would this cause the valves to get bent.

No..I saw this done..the "tech" timed the R+L camshafts without turning the engine over to do the second R camshaft..the R camshaft was out 180*.

The 3.2 engine ran on the left side. Not the right.

Re-timing the right camshaft..the engine ran fine.

May be a different story if your camshaft is timed 90* out.

Will the engine turn over by hand without the valves locking against the pistons?

I did this on my 72 by accident, turned it over by hand, then realized my mistake, no bent valves.

Typically, one would rotate the engine by hand after timing the cams (spark plugs out). If you didn't, you're either very optimistic or confident. I'll go along with db_cooper and hope there wasn't any contact.

I'd say no based on your post in the engine forum. You had it running and if you we're hammering the valves you'd hear it. Drop it, pull the cam and valve covers and set it up right.

Yep...and to double check your cam timing too. I would turn it over several times with some old solid cam chain tensioner in place of the hydraulic..to keep the timing chain tight while fiddling with the cam. Check and double check.
