Flickering dash lights

I recently replaced light stalk, bought from PP and all good. With lights on the dash lights come on ok but go out, come on, go out... If I turn the main head light knob to dim or increase the dash brightness it helps for a while.
Seems like a loose connection but where?
Couldn't find an existing post on this. Any help appreciated.
Cheers. Andy

Sounds like the rheostat (within the headlight switch) for the instrument lights is making an intermittent contact. Sometimes, just by rotating it a bunch, you can clean off the poor contact area.
You should also search for threads on fusing the unprotected circuits, I believe the dash lights are part of it. I can send you the thread later when I have some time. Good luck

I've had good luck using electrical contact spray on the offending switch. Spray inside the stalk (or post) and as brighton911 says above, repeatedly turn the switch back and forth as well as actuating the switch in and out. Spray again liberally, and repeat. If this doesn't solve your issue, you'll probably be in the market for a new switch. Good luck.

Andy, this link was for some electrical troubles I had. Member 86911Targa came to the rescue (thanks!) with details of how to fuse unprotected circuits. Worth doing for sure

Just back from holiday (fly fishing South Island New Zealand) - now there's a place I'd like to drive my car!
Thanks for the tips. Will tackle tomorrow.
Cheers.
