Does this '74 have rear wheel flares?

Hi guys - playing around with making my '74 look like this tasty car;

My car, as a '74, is a narrow body car and not sure if this car in the pictures is still a narrow body or if it has been modified.

I'm asking for two reasons;

1) don't want to dive in to have it end in tears
2) want to make sure the duck tail (identical to the one here) isn't going to look dumb on my car.

Thoughts/ideas?

Look like sc flares to me.
My first 911 was a 74, and it was not as wide as this one.

Only the Carrera had flairs from the factory in 1974 along with the duck tail. All other models were narrow body cars.

Ah - OK. So of course I've picked something that requires more money - ha.

So now the question is narrow body and duck tail - I know this is a pretty frequent topic so let me dig around.

Thanks!

I've heard it said that a duck w/o flairs like like wearing sandles with socks. It just doesn't look "right".
That said.... lots of cars out there with this combo.

I personally like the look of the narrow bodies left stock. Yours is lovely as is.
Furthermore, as the mid years gain value in their original state, permanent changes may affect future value.
Just my .02ç

Hi guys - I agree actually on leaving her stocking looking BUT I have a 3.2 in her and she could use better cooling.

The PO put a really-really wide whale tail on her that I removed, but oil temp jumped up when I did that.

In addition the rear of the car actually felt more planted (I guess really-really wide whale tails actually work) with the tail so I'd like to address that as well.

Looked at 964 retractable spoiler but not quite sold on that yet..

I am putting her back to stock appearance so torn on this...

Was the oil cooler upgraded too? There are options for that that can retain all or most of the stock look, and still be removable.

Hi Charles - thanks for the help.

I did put a front mounted oil cooler on her, which helped.

I have a stock engine lid, so along as I don't mangle the car in the process, wouldn't a duck lid bolt on/off?

Yep - all bolt on. I plan on finding a stck deck lid for my car to replace the tail.

Here is my car - it is a 77 narrow body mid-year.

It was steel flared and has a 3.2 as well. Love it. I am not sure if my flairs are stock SC/Carrera. I am running 9" rears and seem to have quite a bit of room.

I have pics of my '74 with the ducktail pre and post Carrera flares. I'll see if I can dig them up.

Thanks guys - Nate, a '74 still narrow with duck tail would be great to see.

Nicely done car Scott - not lacking for get up and go I bet (grin).

My stock '74 narrow body. I've grown to like the narrow body look but I do like the look of that yellow Carrera.

I wouldn't count on a ducktail to help the cooling much. With a properly installed front cooler you should be running just fine. Does the cooler have the thermostatically controlled fan, or free air flowing over it?

I've already saved your car as an "after" state to shoot for. Well, until I saw that oramge Carrera. Ha.

Seriously thouigh I'm going to keep her narrow bodied - just need to figure out the deck lid now.

Thanks!

These pre-flare pics are from a previous owner. I tried to match them to angles I have of the car currently but don't really have any that match up perfectly.
I really didn't think the duck worked on a narrow bodied car but that gold coupe above is
I guess it depends on the overall setup of the car but obviously it can be pulled off.

duck pre-flare;

flared;
