How do you do a "Partial" engine drop
Removing my CIS for maintenance and it's been recommended to do a partial engine drop.
Can anyone elaborate on the procedures for this? I'm wondering if there is more than just loosening the rear engine mounts and lowering the engine a bit. Do I also need to loosen the transmission mounts or anything else? Thanks..............Vern |
Jack car up on 2 jack stands under the torsion bars
Support engine using a jack Un-screw the 2 engine mount bolts at the back Lower the engine (now somewhat loose) by about 3-4 inches. You may want to support the engine weight with something more solid than a jack Now you have more space to see/feel/remove nuts and bolts of the air box. |
Thanks! I did a search but the only thing I could find was "you should do a partial" but couldn't find any details.
My CIS should be fairly easy to remove as I have a '74 with none of the peripherals that the later cars have. |
Dont forget to disconnect the transmission shift linkage in the tunnel access by the rear seat .... if you do forget you are going to bend it beyond repair .....
