A real strang one this

I have in the resent past done a 800mile trip and get up to 160 something mph , this in my 1985 911, I have had the before with no problems it will use a bit of oil.
I have new tiers on, but was picking up my wife from her work , about 5 miles away and on the way back it started to make ticking sound from the rear right side. Sounded that I had picked up a stone or nail. The sound was intermittent, my clutch felt a little lighter at the pedal and have notes' that the thrust bearing makes a slight sound when I put my down on it. I have bought a new clutch kit for it, but I still need to use it. I have looked at the tyres and around the drive shafts and all looks ok, so do you think it would be all right to do short trips with it?
Thanks Steve.

I had that sound at low speed from the R/R. It was the E brake shoe that had cracked and separated.

If it clicks with road speed then I would be looking at the CV joints for the clicking sound.

Not uncommon for e-brake to clunk. How much do you have to pull up on the brake to get it to engage and hold the car in place? Maybe out of adjustment and too much slack. That said, the drum brake system still maintains tension on the shoes with springs (as long as shoes are not coming apart like sm70911 said). Only thing slack is the cable assembly itself.

Check your CVs by grabbing the axle shaft and rotating it forward and back. That can help you ID if your CV races are pitted.

SLR..you need to get your speedo checked and recalibrated too. At 6500 rpm you were really going about 155mph..more or less depending on tire size.

A CV joint(s) may be clattering after a hard run if they are original and have not been serviced in a long time.

SLR Checked your garage. I always thought the Carrera Sport was an Italian model soley. I know there used to be a thread on here somewhere with ref pics. Can you tell me what separates a 'sport' from regular Euro delivery Carrera
