Blaupuntk code protected

I have a Blaupuntk Stuttgart radio that is "code protected" what does that mean? Is it not functional without a code? Any help would be appreciated.

The PO should have given you a card with the security code.
Same thing with VW and Audi and you have to get a code from the dealer where they check the VIN, etc... Of course they will charge you for this.
This is designed to reduce car radio theft by making them harder or impossible to sell by thieves since the units don't work without the code.
If your unit is a third party you may try an auto sound reseller, but chances are they'll try to sell you a new one.

I've seen websites that will sell you the unlock code for Blaupunkt radios.

A quick google search brought me to this this one:
BLAUPUNKT RADIO CODES | Online Blaupunkt Radio Decoding, Guaranteed with Free Code Entry Help

No idea if it works or not though.

I would advise caution on using these web sites "keys" as I ran into a lot of scams and non-working codes when my stock radio in my 2000 Audi A6 needed one when I replaced the battery (and no cod from the PO as I was the 6th owner).

Thanks for the advice. Is the radio worth anything.

Like someone wants to heist it. In the day the radio to steal was after market ones. Factory's only put codes in there radio`s so the bottom line got fatter. What a pain in the arrs,
If you call the dealer and you have the serial number of the radio most will give you the code.
Sometimes you will need a repair shop to call the serial number in.
