Garage
No Tail Lights or instrument lights ?????

I have an 81 SC and for some reason my tailights and instrument lights do not come on anymore, or very rarely. I check them when I startup in the garage every time I drive just to see if they are working but very rarely do they work. Brakelights, emergency flashers and turn signals all work. When I pull the light switch the headlights come on but no taillights. Very rarely when I pull the headlight switch the instrument/gauge panel will light up and sure enough if I get out and check the taillights are working as well. But if I turn the switch off and back on again no taillights/ gauge lights 99 times out of 100. It has not been a huge deal as I just have not driven anywhere at night and I allow for time to make it back home before dark, but obviously not ideal. Any suggestions??

Thanks,
Dave

The ususal suspect after the fuses would be your headlight switch. Best to disconnect your battery before working on it. Have a look and get your multimeter or test lamp out to check for voltage at the appropriate terminals.

X2, pretty much universal to wire tail and dash lights together.
