CIS Idea

Wouldn't it be neat if you could replace the air flow sensor with an actuator controlled by a simple computer taking readings from a MAP sensor?

75 views and no hits? Come on guys.

What's your goal?

If the goal is to add some definitive feedback control to CIS then I think it would be easier to replace the WUR with an actuated valve that had its position driven by feedback off an O2 sensor. I think this would be much simpler from a controls standpoint. The CIS air flow "sensor" is, in my opinion, a fairly elegant mechanical solution to a difficult problem.

I think it would be difficult to get an appropriate actuation curve for the fuel distributor based on MAP alone. (You might stand a chance with MAF, but I think the big issue is ensuring you have proper air/fuel mix - and you just don't get that with MAF or MAP alone.)

Good points. The idea is to be able to run hotter cams without worrying about the intake reversion messing with the airflow sensor. Just a bored engineering student here procrastinating with regards to my Differential Equations test.

Hot hot of a cam are you thinking? Reversion is not something I've had an issue with.

If you went to that much trouble, you might as well convert to EFI and eliminate the rest of the mechanical complications of CIS.
