CIS Idea
Wouldn't it be neat if you could replace the air flow sensor with an actuator controlled by a simple computer taking readings from a MAP sensor?

What's your goal?
If the goal is to add some definitive feedback control to CIS then I think it would be easier to replace the WUR with an actuated valve that had its position driven by feedback off an O2 sensor. I think this would be much simpler from a controls standpoint. The CIS air flow "sensor" is, in my opinion, a fairly elegant mechanical solution to a difficult problem. I think it would be difficult to get an appropriate actuation curve for the fuel distributor based on MAP alone. (You might stand a chance with MAF, but I think the big issue is ensuring you have proper air/fuel mix - and you just don't get that with MAF or MAP alone.) |
Good points. The idea is to be able to run hotter cams without worrying about the intake reversion messing with the airflow sensor. Just a bored engineering student here procrastinating with regards to my Differential Equations test.

Hot hot of a cam are you thinking? Reversion is not something I've had an issue with.
