Reproduction Fuel Tanks

Was wondering if anyone out there can comment on the quality, fit and finish of the Dansk repro fuel tanks our host sells for the 74-89 911's.

Given that they are substantially less ($345 vs $1,500) than going with an OEM replacement from Porsche, I am strongly considering this route provided others have been satisfied and can recommend same.

Note: Sierra Madre also sells a replacement tank, but it is noted on their website that it does not include a baffle inside. Will need to confirm whether our host's unit does include the baffle.

Thanks,

Eeeeh! They do hold fuel, but just kind of crude looking compared to stock.

Just read another thread that mentioned the reproduction units do not include the swirl pot or the filter/screen system the original units have. Now I just need to confirm if the ones Porsche sells do in fact still come with these features.

I have an '86 i'm going to be working on soon, which I know to have a black replacement tank instead of the typical original gray (sprayed with body schutz rubber stuff) tank. I have to drain the fuel and go thru pretty much all the car because it's been sitting awhile on account of my close friend being ill for a number of years (RIP Mark) and the car not seeing any use. So i'll take a look inside and let you know what I find in the black repro tank.

I'm pretty sure the repro tank I bought from Pelican has a swirl pot. Metal instead of plastic. It also has the filter/screen system you are talking about. It was not the Dansk one. If I was home I would take a picture of the swirl pot for you but I won't be home for another 3 weeks or so.
