Trailing Arm to Torsion tube - Washers?
Hi,
As always, looking for help. My car is 1977 911S. I am reassembling the rear suspension. Does the trailing arm, where it bolts to the torsion tube require washers. I have spherical bearings, but I do not think that they have anything to do with the washers. The long bolt is fastened with some kind of "lock nut". It has a very thin in profile. It does not look like the most durable nut. Help would be appreciated. Thanks. |

I took a look at my '73, and it appears to have washers.
Also, in this picture from the parts forum, the trailing arm bolts on the left for a 1971 have washers. ![]() Here is the PET for 1977. It shows one washer on the nut side, same as 1973 PET. ![]()

Thanks for the reply and parts diagram. Is part #3 (block and washer), a part of the bushing assembly? As I have a spherical bearing, would I need just the one washer?
I found a similar PET for the 911SC, it looks the same. It says an M14 locking nut. Is that a nylock nut? I would have thought that is would require something more substantial? Last edited by jamesjedi; 05-04-2014 at 11:28 AM.. Reason: added information |
