Alignment Central Alabama?

can anyone here make a recommendation for a reliable place to have an alignment done in central Alabama? I do know we have a porsche dealer in Birmingham but other than that would not have a clue. My local trusted shop said he is not equipped to handle these cars.

Previous owner had just had new tires installed roughly 1k miles ago. Fronts are wearing bad on the inside.Bad enough that I would feel safe to say that they would be gone in less than 5 k miles. too much Negative camber I would guess. This is to be a weekend car only, I have no need for such settings.

Thanks for any suggestions

If you do your own work there is a booklet out there by Ray Scruggs for $10.00 that's called
"Home alignment for Porsche 911" that walks you through the whole process, just takes time to do it the first time around, no special tools required, does the 4 wheel alignment and corner weights too. will save ya hundreds of bucks and you will understand the suspension way better, has all the settings as well. Best 10 bucks you'll ever spend on your car, and if you can get it done with the help of a buddy then take it in, all your out is ten bucks.
If you can't find it then send me a PM and I should have his address some where, he takes pay pal and will e-mail it to you, I have no affiliation with Ray

Call Eurasian Auto in Bham... they should be able to help or refer you to the best place.

Saab Tire in Birmingham. Eurasian is an excellent source by the way, don't do alignments but very good with air cooled Porsches. They use Estes I believe but I have had better luck with Saab (don't get confused by the name, Charlie Saab is the owner)

Good call... SAAB Tire also knows how to properly match mount tires and will check radial force variation for you too!

Eurasian referred me to Estes and I was not too happy with the work there (mount & balance new tires). I've heard nothing but good about Saab Tire but I've not used them myself. Let us know where you end up.

Recently had my 81SC lowered and Eurasian sent her out to Estes for the alignment.
She drives great. Flies straight as an arrow and handles much better than before.

The only tire I have purchased from anyone other than Saab since 1985 was for my lawn mower. Well, that one and a few Hoosiers purchased at the track but we won't go into details on why.

Great people and great service. They've done all my alignments for various vehicles over the years.

Go to the automotive section on the right of the building and ask for Mike Nail and tell him what you need.

Thanks for all the feedback.

Morrison, thanks for the info. Something I have thought about doing, and will buy the book regardless if I can find it. But this first time I really wanted to have someone do it that knew what they were doing.

Raked, Flynn, Vroomgrl, thanks for the tips...any of you guys got the number for Saab?...next time I have a 3 day break I'll plan on heading that way. But, would probably call for an appt first. Curious, any idea what they charge? No doubt less than a dealer would.

Here are a few updates to this thread...

A: I am no longer at Saab Tire, I've taken over another shop in Birmingham but do not do any tire/alignment work currently (No immediate plans to purchase equipment needed but maybe one day)

B: Saab has a very talented tech named David L. He does the more complicated alignments now as I understand. He has trained some of the younger "tire guys" to do alignments as well. They are a busy, fast paced shop and my crazy butt is no longer there to tweak GT3's till Midnight...

C: Eurasian now owns Tire & Alignment equipment. I believe they do all of it in house now. They appear to be going strong and are very active in many Car Clubs & Racing Series
