How to Remove Early Steering Wheel?

I'm sure that once the horn batwing is off, its not difficult to remove the wheel, but how do you get the damn batwing off?

Also, are these wheels worth anything? I am replacing with a protipo.

turn batwing CCW about 1/8 turn. It should just pop off afterwards. Then look for the 24mm (?) nut underneath holding the wheel on. It might be quite tight. Impact gun works well here.

Value depends on condition.

He is right, that is how you remove the steering wheel. Also, I am looking for an original wheel to put in my 912 . Do you have the leather porsche logo horn button cover that goes on the batwing? Also, I am interested in buying the steering wheel from you if it is for sale.

please call me.,

Cheers,

.
If it's been on a number of years, that 1/8 turn CCW can take a little muscle. Took mine off my 73.5 last night.

Hey Rick,

You may want to look in your local phone book or online locally for a Saddle shop. You may not be in Montana like me so that may be a long shot. But you would be surprised. Find a saddle or leather repair shop and let em go at it. It has worked for me.

Cheers,

Darren

Value depends on condition, and even more on the part number -- post that, as the PO might have put on a valuable wheel.

RW-Doubt it. It was a 912, and the most poorly one in CONUS, I would guess.
