K&N base modification for Float Valve Access
Here is my simple modification of the K&N filter base. I wanted to be able to measure the float height on my Zeniths while running, and then quickly make adjustments without removal of a bunch of nuts and washers, etc...
Here is my trick: I put some yellow paint on the top of the carb body, and then put the baseplate on top while the paint is wet. Press down to get the paint transfered, and then remove the baseplate, and clean the wet paint from the carbs. Let the paint dry on the baseplate before you do any work.. What happens is you get an accurate location of the webs and mount points. You now know where not to cut, and it is easy to use a circle template to located the 22mm diameter windows for the plugs: ![]() Grind away with a Dremel tool with a carbide burr: ![]() And now, I can mess with the float height, faster and easier. ![]()
