Yeah, Boulder Colorado is 70F today! I'm hoping to get my project done very soon.

By the way, there are a few things that could be part of your steering issue. Replacing SC tie rods with Turbo tie rods is a big improvement in feel and firmness. The other is rebuilding your steering rack. Here's that portion of my project, but you can also search the Pelican forum and get lots of good results. Here's my steering rack rebuild.

Do you wait for clear roads, weather or the day they stop salting?

Mud is a55 hole deep here ( well it was .....it's 18* and snowing now). Town dumped 3 loads of gravel on our road just to make it passable.

I will have to drive mine this saturday here in Vermont. I just bought a condo (that has a garage!) and will be moving in! Right in downtown Montpelier

It's pretty cold up here. I wouldn't drive mine in the cold because my car does not idle well below say, 60F.

If my car wasn't such a b*tch about the temperature, I would totally have taken her out on some of the nicer days we've had here in VT over the last month or so, when the roads looked nice and dry and clear of snow. Probably still be a good idea to wash off your car after that to get any salt dust off.

I'll probably wait until next month sometime to really drive mine.

Been driving mine almost daily, just a little north of you in Huntington VT. Scary to have it so warm so early, but I'll take any excuse to get the car out.

I wait for heavy rains to wash the salt away. Then it's game on. I've got a feeling my car's going to be apart most of the spring/summer for a complete suspension upgrade.

I drove mine last weekend to move it to my new condo (which has a heated, large garage on the ground floor! )

She started right up, though idled rough until I got going.

Still looking through my boxes to find proof that I paid taxes in CA when I bought her.

It's Still. Snowing. Here. WTF. There is about 1 foot of snow on the ground here and it's in the high 30's. Lame.

Re: A few more weeks...

Being from Central VT I found driving season didn't start until late April/May and sometimes later if the winter prolonged. Salt will take your car apart especially if you're coming from a desert area where sand has blasted everything (I did time in Palm Springs and Scottsdale). Good luck in Montpelier. If you're new to the area then check out Three Penny Tap downtown or Prohibition Pig in Waterbury and if you're feeling adventurous you can stop in at Cornerstone in Barre. Nice show in the fall to checkout is Wolfsgart in Essex.

Hey, Pete. . .

You get gravel on your roads? Man, we just get mud, except that it's frozen again right now. No wait. . .

The first day of Spring (the Porsche is in the back):

What do you guys think if that light gray covering of dry salt on the roads?
Drivable?
I've had my car since February and been working on it in the garage but not driving and it's killing me...

Wait till the rains wash away the grey salt coating. You are anxious to drive, we understand, but it will rot the car. The dry stuff will blow up like dust and get everywhere.

A big no.

Hey Jerome,
The first mud season only lasted 2 days then it froze up again. And snowed. And more snow.
Anxiously awaiting mud season # 2.
At this rate we'll have to snowmobile to the spring members meeting.

Pete,

The spring members meeting site isn't announced yet (or even chosen?).

My car isn't running anyway - I'm waiting for parts, and just today I pulled out the speedo, clock and tach. Have you ever changed those little lightbulbs in the instruments? PP doesn't list them and I don't know where to get them. Sending the speedo to North Hollywood to have the face rotated, with a new mph/kph scale on it. Trip meter doesn't work, either.

What kind of stuff have you done on your car this winter?

Edit: PP has the bulbs.
