Site Update! The motor's apart

Thanks to those who have emailed asking for an update. Here it is. Sorry it is not as meaty as some others have been, but the bodywork is indefinitely halted. On the flipside, I'm now looking at the engine, so there's some good material on that.

By the way, you've all swayed me, I'm going ahead with inserts for the head studs!

You mean all the sludge? I am concerned about what caused it. Probably sitting around for an indefinite number of years being only occasionally, sporadically driven by the PO. So, the oil cooler and oil pump will be getting a few extra hours in the solvent bath. But I think she's going to go back together just fine.

Maybe the sludge was caused by the pressure washing as water got into the case.

Curt- completion date is now suspended indefinitely; the remaining metalwork is the tough part. If I had 10k I'd just send it off to an expert and say "deal with it" as I am pretty frustrated with the whole thing. Let's just say I'd like to have the car completed by the time the next Star Wars movie comes out.

John- could be, but the engine was stripped less than 24 hours after the pressure washing.

The engine will probably be done by this time next year but the car will not- so I'm planning to keep the assembled engine in the house (climate control) to help prevent condensation. Should accessorize well with the BBS coffee table, I think.

Now, Dave, I thought you loved bodywork. I mean, it's not like somebody walked into your garage and took all the bodyworking tools away or anything.

BTW, I've got a box full of surplus 600uF capacitors we could use to finish the welding...
