Porsche Crest What are recommended tires for 3.2 coupe

After my Carrera 3.2 Coupe gets out of the hospital I will need new tires. According to the Certificate of Authenticity it came new with Bridgestones. I had some Hankooks in the rear but they have worn out pretty quickly, (gottem for free so I really can't complain) Since I am primarily a Sunday driver and don't DE does anyone have recommendations?

What is wrong with the current sizes?

Also, wheel size would help.

If I only sunday drove my 911, I'd run DOT race tires like Hoosier R6's all the time. I love the way they stick and as a test once I took them out on the highway in the rain and they had way more grip than I would have thought.

Just my 2cts.

Not sure about size availability, but Dunlop Star Specs fit your need very well. Used to have a set on my 3.2 Carrera before it became more of a dedicated track car with Nitto's. And currently have a set of Star Specs on my Boxster S.

You need do define "Wore out quickly".

I expect 4k to 5k miles out of a set of rears. I want as much performance as possible out of a car purchased to tear up corners and tires are the number one way to get that. You have to balance tire life against sticky...

Where I'm at rain isn't common and large standing puddles are rare too so what I use has tread blocks about the size of my palm.

So what are you expecting out of the tire? Lifespan? Weather? Noise?

I used to run Hankooks on my 16s Fuchs 205/225 and still now on my Fuch replica 17s 225/245. Can't complain sticky and reasonably priced.

245/45s are scarce and now pricey when found. I think Bridgestone is about it.....

Porsche Crest 4k to 5K !

Quicksilver:

My Odometer broke about a year ago and finally sent it to North Hollywood while I am getting a top end. I am guessing I got about 5K out of the Hankook rears so I guess for free tires I did pretty well.

Thanks guys for all the input.

Michelin Pilot Exaltos. Look on Tire Rack. Top rated for our car. I do DEs with mine. I've had no issues.

And oh, dear Lord - DON'T buy the Fuzions. They are terrible tires! Loud, squirmy, terrible in the rain and cold, unpredictable at the limit, hard to balance...

They are priced like that for a reason. I bought a set once, and NEVER AGAIN. I took them off after about six months of torture. Worst car money I ever spent, and I once bought a '78 Chevy Nova - just to give you an idea.

+1 on the Bridgestone RE-11 tires.

I have a new set and they are quiet and supple. You won't be disappointed. In Texas I'd think the compound would work every day but for those flash rains I've heard tell.

I have about 1,000 miles on a set of Conti Extreme Contact DWS (the all season version, not that they're needed in San Diego) and they are quite decent for normal street driving. Sidewalls seem a bit soft, so steering response is less than razor sharp, but they are plenty grippy for the 7/10 to 8/10 driving I've been doing.

Another vote for Bridgestone RE-11s - been enjoying mine for over a year now on 7s & 9s under stock Carrera body.

+4 on the Bridgestone RE-11s - the White Rat and I both love them.

As others have said, since you are running 245/45 in the rear you are really limited in selection. Either go "el cheapo's" like Nexen tires or the really good Bridgestone RE-11. There is not much, if anything, in between. And remember to run the same make and model tire front and rear.
