What would be a good set of shocks to put on my Porsche?

Also, would like to put a decent stereo in it as well. Any recommendations? Thanks.

as far as the radio, stick with a known name brand (pioneer, alpine, jvc, kenwood) and you will be fine. the hard part will be deciding what features you want (bt, aux-in, usb, cd player, etc). Crutchfield: Car Stereo, Speakers, Home Theater, LCD TV, Digital Cameras is a great place to hunt and buy from. their prices may be a bit higher than other sites but they have the hands down absolute best customer service in the industry. i swear by them.

i bought a unit from them a few years ago. installed it and had a problem. went through trouble shooting with one of their techs via the phone and when we could not resolve the problem they over-nighted me a new one (at no charge) and included a label for returning the defective model. no one else will give you that type of service.

ivangene hit it right on the money - Bilstein HDs.

Regarding a stereo, don't get your hopes too high; the 911 cockpit isn't a great music chamber. To get even average music you have to spend a lot of money, use a decent head unit, strong amp, and decent speakers. I have a single disc Alpine head, Sony front speakers, Alpine rear deck speakers, and a Rockford/Fosgate amp. My car is an SC coupe, and my combo of components sounds better than cars I've driven with $4K stereos.

This is really subjective stuff, because everyone's ear is different, you should find a stereo shop that has a sample board of head units and speakers and listen. Obviously that's only a start point because you're not in a chamber, but it might help. Research, research, research!

You should consider installing a subwoofer as part of the installation. Makes a huge difference in the overall sound. Otherwise the acoustics in the car make it sound very tinny. Don't need to overdue it, but a sub really improves the sound and helps compensate for the road and engine noise.

agreed, and you don't need to go nuts with one either. a simple quality 8" sub will do the trick nicely, have small requirements for an enclosure and small requirements for power.

be careful though, car audio is a slippery slope

And all this time I thought car audio was the flat-six music. I drive my car several times per week, can't remember when I last had the stereo on.

I hear ya Seymore, I keep it simple with two 6 X 9's in the back and a couple 5 inch speakers up front. The stereo is a brand name with 16 watts per channel. No amps needed. btw, I perfer the sound of the flat six but only at about 5500rpm

Just put Bilstein HDs on my '83 targa and feels great. The front Bilsteins are still in the dining room.....just a matter of time now.
