How to do: disconnect shift handle from horiz. shift rod
About to paint my race car interior: how do these two parts separate?
Thanks! |
there is a set screw holding them together, rotate the parts to see it.
|
Very similar to the set screw at the shift coupler in the back between the rear seats.

Ok cool guys, looks like I need a long allen key & a flashlight...& a some kneepads :)

If you disconnect the coupler end of the shiftrod first you will save yourself a ton of contorting and swearing. If you were happy with your coupler adjustment make sure you mark the attachment on the splined end.

The shift lever (handle) is part of the shift housing assembly. It's fairly obvious when you see it. Remove (3)-M8 and (2) M6 fasteners, then lift up on the assembly to remove from the vehicle. The lower end of the shift lever has a nylon ball bearing bush that fits into the shift lever bearing bush receptacle (the part that has the set screw). Not so obvious if you have a console in the way with all its hidden screws. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1363822723.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1363822864.jpg Sherwood |
