Front strut removal

I am attempting to replace the front struts on my 1982 911sc. Everything has gone fine so far. I have read many posts before starting this project. I am now attempting to remove the strut from the ball joint and it won't budge. I have tried prying it off, I have banged on the control arm with a 2 pound hammer but no movement. Has anybody else run into this problem and if so what is the solution? Thanks for any help, Dave

Roll pin is removed?

Try PB Blaster. Kroil is better but you have to send off for it.

Someone on this board recently recommended to me a mixture of 50/50 acetone and automatic trans fluid to remove a frozen part. I was absolutely amazed how well this worked.

I'm assuming you've already removed the pinch bolt at the bottom of the strut. After that, add the oil mixture to the hole and let soak for a little while.

On my car, I used a floor jack to jack up the strut (not suspension). I recall placing the jack under the arm for the tie-rods. The A-arms don't want to go up so this adds some opposing pressure to the strut.

Lastly, keep the top of the strut in place or cover with lots of towels as you can easily put a reverse dent in you bumper if it hits.

I would soak it for a couple of days. On my 81, I do not remember an issue. I have Bilstiens not Boge.
