I'm considering a set of seats for my street car (that I'm hoping to track more often). They don't need to recline. I have about $1500 to spend, but I'd really like something in the $200-300(each) range, suggestions would be appreciated.

I am in the same situation as you. I have been looking at the Corbeau seats. Mostly the A4 seat. It looks really good for only $320.00.

My vote definitely goes to the Sparco seats, specifically the "Evo" model. Top notch gear, but kinda pricey. If you find the right dealer, you can get a pair for around $1100 in fiberglass. If you want the carbon fiber model, your $1500 might by you one seat!

Corbeaus are a good value (in cloth, at least). Sit in them first, and if clearance for a helmet is an issue, make sure the seat's not going to raise you up too high.

That's a concern of mine, Jack. I have just enough room in my Targa to sit down with a helmet on in driving position. I sit in my friend's SC Coupe, and my bare head touches the ceiling - in stock seats. With his racing seat in, it's a little better, but...
Someone would make a mint if they fabricated some height-adjustable seat rails for the 911. ------------------ Mark Szabo 1986 911 Targa 3.2 1987 Escort 5-speed 1.9 RIP The Porsche Owners Gallery |

I really like the Corberu carreras,
![]() but they cost about 369.65... No that's not too much, but it is more than a seat I've laid my eyes on a while ago, the corberu forzas: which only cost 204.95. If these seats are bearable, they're going to be my first choice, unless I decide to go with recaros that Porsche had used in the 968 as I plan to replicate one in the next few years, but that'll probably exceed my budget. Still looking, but thanks for the ideas so far, and I welcome any further input. PS: Aren't most race seats lower then stock? I fit in just barely with a helmet... I have a forza in my car right now. It feels as if your sitting almost straight up in it. In my mind it is only good for track driving. I'm actually shoping around for a new seat right now. I would hold off on the forza if you plan on driving your car more on the street than on the track. Velo makes a pretty cool set of seats-low to high end price. The only place I found them is in aus.

Actually, Mark, the early seat mount brackets were adjustable (at least in 1973). The ones in my car had three height settings -- I didn't see this until I'd bought new ones for the new seats.

I've got Sparco EVO's in my car. I'm 5'9" and 160lbs and the fit is nice snug. If your larger (very PC-yes?) you'll want the EVO 2.
Dougherty Auto 610-692-6039 has a very good seat mounting bracket, custom and fitted to your liking. |

I just had a set of Recaro SRG's installed in my 78 targa. They go for about $500 each but they are reclining and have belt holes in them including a provision for a sub belt. The head room seems fine with a helmet

Do the Carreras have a slot for the anti-sub belt? I, too, am looking into a seat for my '86 Carrera. My original choice is the Sparco Evo 2. But, the Corbeau Carrera is a good looking seat, plus it reclines.

My Corbeaus (Targa RS) do not have a sub belt opening. I had one made by an upholstery guy.

Isolon, I don't recline my seats in normal driving, and I like sitting all most totally straight up normally. This is my only car, and will likely stay that way for awhile, so the seats need to be bearable on the street. I'm about 6' even, and weigh 170lbs, do you think I'll be OK with these seats? Since they're cheap, and FIA approved, as well as very light, I want to go with these.
BTW, thanks to all for the feedback, I appreciate it. Ahmet ------------------ It's all the driver... My page over1g@hotmail.com Porsche owners Gallery.../My 944 |

Hello
All factory Recaro and most aftermarked Recaro have the 3 bolt pattern rails. Other companys like Scheel or EKU used the same system. Grüsse |
