What do you guys think of my hose idea?
As I am working on my motor I can't help but love the hose setup I did. I was wondering if anyone can see any longterm problems to what I have done. I am referring to the 3/4" &1" breather and vacuum hoses that run on the right side of the engine. These(some) are vacuum lines and the originals were HEAVILY reinforced brittle and ugly. I took silicone reinforced (light blue with the orange inner) hose and ran SS expanded spring inside it for collapdse prevention. These are much easier to route, will never get brittle, and in my opinion look much better than stock. Again I am just wondering about long term potential problems. The silicone lines are supposed to be vertually indestructible but I may be missing some potential contamination or other issues? What do you think?

I'm no materials engineer, but I'd think the silicone lines should be superior in function. Anal retentive concours judges might object, but I doubt anybody else will.

If by the blue-outer and orange-inner you mean Purosil hose, I don't think you can go wrong with that stuff. It's outstanding quality hose and will not break down and get brittle like your typical butyl rubber hosing (black stuff). It's easy to clean too! Just spray some Simple Green on a shop rag and rub the grime right off.
Here's a link to a bit of info. on Purosil hosing: Purosil Info.

Yes, it is Purosil. I really klike this stuff and the only downside was the lack of a vacuum rating. Now that the spring is in there you can take nice tight radius as well. Looks much better and I think temperature resistance is one of it's strong points.

Now I know this has nothing to do with porsche's but, I have a modified 88 saab 900 spg. All the guy's on the performance saab board have been running these lines for years(small 3.5 mm to large IC lines). I've had them on my car for 2 years now and have no complaints. The small ones are still nice and flexible and look great. Very easy to locate if one has popped off. I'm running about 20lbs of boost and 26hg of vacuum at times-no probs.
