Indeed

I see you have XR700 ignition there too, does yours have pointless distributor? If so did you attach the pointless conversion thingie with one or more screws. Because I am afraid that it might come off and break itself inside the distributor..

Well, maybe I am a bit paranoid, but since the car has left me on the road so many times i just wanna be sure

What's the idler wheel to the left of the A/C compressor for?

Zen, the distributor is using a Crane Optical trigger inside the dizzy. There is only room for the one screw, I haven't had any trouble with it. I guess I'd consider a locktight product.

I'm assuming the coil is oil filled, I put it in the same place as the old Bosch one. I'd be interested to hear some other opinions on the correct placement. I didn't realise there could be a problem?

SeaDweller, the idler wheel is for the after-marked air conditioning that a previous owner installed. I'm not sure what the factory arrangement is like, but I like being able to accurately set the tension on the A/C and crank pullies.

88911coupe, everybody seems to comment on the colour. I've always wanted a white or silver 911 and considered changing this one's colour but really like the feed back most people give when they see the blue.....so it'll stay!

Cheers

Yeah, that idler wheel is sweet. Get the compressor hard mounted, and simply adjust belt tension at the idler wheel. Now I'm really envious!!

"I see" said the Blind Man.

I didn't realise this wasn't the norm. You are correct, the A/C is hard mounted with the idler setting the tension. The bracket is a bit heavy, and I've considered either removing the A/C or making the bracket out of aluminium.

I have a lightweight aluminum bracket that came with my new compressor. I can't do without A/C in Florida, so lightening a few components is my only real option. The bracket did require a little modification before installation. The compressor is hard mounted to the bracket, which is mounted to a steel adjustment plate. It's an easy adjustment, but I still prefer the idler wheel arrangement.
