2.4 MFI Air filter housing
I recently purchased a 73T with the stock MFI air filter system. I replaced the air filter, and there is a gap between the main filter housing and the cap (part held on with the wing nuts). Should there be a gasket between the housing and the cap? Won't unfiltered air leak in and bypass the filter without one. Also, where would I purchase one if needed. Not found on our sponsor.
Thank You. |

My 72 has a thick rubber molded o-ring gasket. Not sure where to purchase. Google 901 108 215 00

There are two rubber gasket between the cap and the housing:
1) A big gasket ring, pn: 901.108.215.00 2) A smaller gasket ring between the center of the air filter and the cap stud, part number 901.108.983.00. Both gaskets are seen in this illustration in front of the air filter: ![]() Both should be available from Pelican.

Pretty crude, but I've been know to take a hack saw and trim to length.
Separate the rubberized end, and install on the trimmed version if you're concerned about any foreign matter that might creep around the cut end. (Highly unlikely) Install with the trimmed side toward the firewall. Bill K
