Duck tail prep and refinishing

Just got my fiberglass duck tail from Pelican, put it on to check the fit and fit's great. Looks like no modifications will be needed. So now what? Do I sand and prime it like steel or does it need someting special? Also on one of the edges the fibers have poked through the hard surface and will need to be repaired.
I wish I can just leave it on cause it looks real Cool!

Guess what you shouldn't use with the ducktail? The hood shock. Warps the whole thing out of alignment. Ask me how I know?

Sand it with 400 and use polyesther primer. A good heavy coat on the edges will nail down the loose fibers. Resand and check the edges. You may have to touch up your primer. At this point you can double check for surface imperfections, then tack cloth and paint.

Kurt V here on the board just painted and installed a ducktail. Do a search on his name, and you'll probably find a thread discussing his work. You might also want to send him an e-mail asking for advice.
