Ok, the diagram reveals all (as ever)
Red/black is switched +12v (to + terminal) Black with blue stripes are the instrument illumination bulbs White with blue stripe is the high-beam indicator bulb Black with purple is tacho sense Brown is the ground White/red ??? Is anything labeled on the back of the gauge?

Looks like the trigger signal from the dizzy...or the ignition pulse source.
