Vent Window Seal Installation

I'm putting my doors back together on my '73 911 project, and I can't figure out how the small seal under the vent window is supposed to go in. It appears that it's supposed to fit in the channel between the door and the window frame, but even with screw drivers separating the space and some lube, the seals won't fit in.

How do you get them in? Are they supposed to fit in the space? Is the correct method to pull the door frame up and then squeeze them in? See pics below.

Thanks in advance,

Tom
