Unhappy Flat-bed ride home

Oh Rats!
I have just got my '77 Targa back on the road after a long period of it being a hobby/garage ornament. Monday it was running well but still a little rough so I added a bottle of Techron fuel injector cleaner to the tank of fresh gas. (I had previously drained the old fuel from the tank). On Tuesday it was running rougher and then yesterday 3 miles from the house an almost complete loss of power. It starts and idles but it's very rough and there is almost no throttle response, I can't get above 1500 rpm and there is not enough power to even move. Thanks to AAA it is now safely back in my garage.
I assume that something has stuck in its throat. What would be a good sequence of items for me to start checking? I intend to pull the injectors and soak them in acetone and install a new fuel filter. Then pull the plugs and check them. What would be the next sequence of checks as I move further into the fuel system?

Check your fuel filters, tank filter and fuel pump. I had a kink in my fuel line once, after a new fuel pump install. I installed it in the front.
A few miles is all I got out of what was in the lines.
From the tank to the engine is enough fuel to get you a few miles. Maybe your tank filter is clogged.

I just discovered while rebuilding mine that if you dont use thick walled high quality fuel line it WILL kink and I immediately pitched that cheap **** and ordered the good stuff that won't collapse. Definitely, as Dipso said, check your fuel lines first. Since you just had major maintenance done it is likely something that is not sitting right. ESPECIALLY since it starts and idles but wont power up. Sounds to me like a fuel starvation issue.

Assuming it still has CIS it's all about fuel pressure. Buy or borrow a set of gauges. Diagnose from there.

You have freed up a bunch of gunk that has clogged your fuel lines. Your R&R on the gas filter(s) is right on. Try that and see what happens before you start getting in deep.

Sidenote: When my Targa was flatbedded after the CV joint exploded I felt so alone, so exposed - at which point a woman came by and said "I LOVE your little sports car!". I just didn't know what to think!

What he said! That is the exact sympton of a clogging up fuel filter. It still passes a small amount of fuel, but not enough to keep running with any acceleration. Replace the big fuel filter next to engine first. Bet it fixes your problem.
Had it happen to me in the same way!

I am in a similar situation where I am half way through a tank of gas with Techron. All is well excpet the loud buzz from the FP. All the threads say the FP could be dying, so I ordered a pump and filter. Is a pump back flush an option?

Did not mean to hijack the thread , but this Techron stuff seems effective in moving crud around, and its too bad because my initial results seemed promising.

Techron should be used on a regular basis.....less impact when it does it's job.

Flatbed trip #1: Me sad and angry and embarrassed and pissed off and all that.

Flatbed trip #2: Me laughing and waving at the neighbors as the car is dropped off.

I figure anything less than one trip a year on the flatbed is doing good, I'd rather drop the $100 now than sit in a parking lot for 4 hours poking away at a dead engine.
