Whats this wire?

Just installed a new chip and while I was under the driver's seat, this wire was floating around, but I could not find anyplace where it might have been plugged in. I think it was loose when I started, but not sure.

It is on the right side of the driver's seat near the rail.

Anyone know what its for?

Where it plugs in?

Or does it not get plugged in?

Thanks

He he he . Wish I knew. Nice felyx

you can look beneath the seatbelt fasteners and see if the wiring is there. The PO of my car went ballistic disconnected most of the wiring in the car for me so they never worked. I think he suffered from some kind of dementia caused by the door buzzer/seat belt buzzer but didn't know how to pull the buzzer

Everything seems to be in working order...is it possible its for an option that is not on my car? I know some electric seats have three sets of controls mine only has 2 controls with 4 way movement.

Those are too thin for any power lines to the seat, and the seat control wiring from switch to seat motors are probably all contained in the seat itself. Hard for me to say, my 84 doesn't have all of those electronics.

So if you take the simplistic beauty of an SC, with its lighter weight, and you give it a kick ass engine and management system without all the fluff, what do you get?

An 84 Carrera. Eyup.

Those are seat belt lights or something like that. Have to be. You got a bentley manual handy?

I think it goes to the seatbelt receiver.

Chris you may be right. I havent noticed the seat belt buzzer going but then again, I did yank the little black box behind the fuel gauge that buzzed all the time.

Kurt: 89 Carrera thats working its way to a faster 0-60. But its hard to clock when your also doing the driving and i dont want a passenger adding weight!

Some seats had contacts to sense whether a passenger was sitting in them. It was tied into the ignition interlook relay. This could be the connector for that.

At least this was the case on my 74 before someone just janked the relay and bridged it.

Fortunately ... only the later '74 models and early '75 models had the infamous 'Seat Belt Interlock' system, i.e., cars produced from 1 Jan 1974 thru 31 Dec 1974! Civil uprising and mayhem 'threatened' upon Congress got the law revoked in Record Time!!!
