My New to Me SC

Alright!! Here is my new (21 yrs old) '81 ROW SC

She is a Fast MFer. Pretty much an options deleted NO sunroof coupe. No sunroof important because I'm 6'5" and still wanted a coupe.

I know the Euro spec cars had higher compression, but do they have different gear ratios as well. 2nd gear from 3500 to red line is amazing. This is one of the tightest 911's I've ever been in.

Relatively low miles. Speedo was changed to US at 27,000 km, with 53K on it now that puts me at about 66K total.
Couldn't sleep at all last night and went to work really early to take the twisty bits there.
She needs to be lowered back to Euro spec. All in all good Federalization though.
She needs new shoes, the BFG's that are on her suck.
Hope you like her, I certainly do. Hope the wife doesn't get gealous.

Just wait until she blurts out "You love that car more than me!" Believe me, she will! Ask a married man how I know...

Or...how about the husband who snickers with a half smile on his face everytime I go on and on about how much I love my (our) car!!!

So...watch out for the day you go outside to take the porsche for a drive and your wife already took it for her own mini field trip!!!

Have a great time with your "New to You" hot porsche.

Euro's rock. You've got the good one. 9.8:1 compression.

Gearsets are different than US.

My 1980 euro has a 915/62.

1st 3.18
2nd 1.83
3rd 1.26
4th 1.00
5th 0.78

If you have the same gearbox, then 2nd is shorter and 5th is taller then the US 915/63.

Nice car - whoever ordered it was serious weren't they? No AC, no foglights, no sunroof - all they wanted was an engine, a chassis, and a couple of seats! Great starting point for a weekend racer...

Welcome to SC ownership! Quality pictures of a nice looking car.

Don't worry about comments from the wife - just manage to slip in a few "... but I don't enjoy the car nearly as much as I do you honey" comments every so often and you'll be fine!

Porsche Crest Sidemarkers on Euro's

Here is a silly question...........I know that the RoW cars had the small side markers just forward of the doors, but don't they also have rubber pads on the front bumper where the US side markers are? Or was that an option? In anycase, this car has both? Just curious!

Beautiful car. I see you've found the RPM "sweet spot", 3500 and up is where they really like to run. I'm kind of partial to silver myself (see below):

Unless you need it to pass emission testing, you may want to consider losing the air pump (mine was gone when I got the car), there's one less belt to worry about. a little less parasitic loss and "opens up" the engine compartment.

Congratulation,
